Interviews
I interviewed five professional models I’ve worked with, covering advice for newcomers, red flags when choosing collaborators, and tips on starting out. These conversations gave me deeper insight into the modeling experience, which I combined with my own perspective. They also allowed me to bring in real-world examples and valuable guidance for those looking to break into the industry.
I asked Sam French, a professional fashion model with five years of experience, what advice she would give her younger self when first starting out in the industry.
“Be Patient. Be Confident. And relax. Modeling can be a very hard thing, and it takes a lot of time to learn how to ‘get the shot.’ I would tell my younger self that you are learning, it takes time, but just have fun and allow yourself to not know everything.”
I asked Lauren Pride, What are some photographer red flags to look out for?
“Look out for if the photographer is uncomfortable with me being a safety, buddy, or bringing a significant other. Typically if they are a legit photographer, they will encourage you to bring someone.”
